Texas Instruments and IXI Mobile design solution for multimedia mobile handsets
By Sara Griffin
Texas Instruments and IXI Mobile announced a combined solution for multimedia mobile handsets. The new solution utilizes Texas Instruments OMAP platform and EDGE chipset with the IXI OS.
Designed to shorten manufacturers' time-to-market for advanced EDGE mobile handsets, the new design will offer a combination of IXI's complete multimedia feature phone operating system, IXI-Connect OS, and TI's OMAP850 EDGE chipset, designed for wireless smart phones and PDAs.
"TI's OMAP850 solution is a complete EDGE reference design, enabling OEMs and ODMs to deliver multimedia feature phones for the 2005 holiday season. With the combination of the OMAP850 hardware reference design and IXI-Connect OS software, manufacturers have an easier path toward fulfilling the strong market demand for advanced, carrier compliant handsets." commented Amit Haller, CEO of IXI Mobile
